looks like everybody wants to tweet

15 Apr

it seems twitter is setting the pace for social networking, which is odd because to me it always seemed a stripped down version seeing as it limits you to only 140 characters. when facebook had their most recent face lift there was outcry that the new format was going to a more “twitter” interface with the way status updates are now shown. to be honest, i didn’t see it, but i guess if that is what people are saying…right? well now it looks like blogger has jumped on the bandwagon. if you go to your dashboard, next to all of your blogs there are two icons, a phone and an envelope. the first is so that you can set up text messaging straight to your blog, which is going to have a twitter-like effect. how much are you really going to send in a text message, probably not much more than the 140 characters that you would on twitter. the envelope option allows you to email to your blog, but my guess is it won’t be as popular as the quick observation sent by text message. interesting.

Interesting that bloggspot is diversifying. Maybe folks want to stay connected, but not at a deep level so the 140 characters works. You stay in touch, but don’t have to expend a lot of energy and throught to do so. Hmm, I wonder how many characters this post consumed?
