admin homecoming remarks

04 Aug

among the information dr saavedra shared yesterday, he made a remark in regards to pushing students to score commended on taks, he said “if you move the ceiling, the floor comes with it”.  refreshing to hear that as someone who works with teachers regarding their gt students.  does this axiom hold true in the classroom as well?  i have to admit that there is sometimes a fear of teachers bringing everyone to the middle, but dr saavedra echoes a sentiment held by many teachers of the gifted, that being start high and differentiate from there, the converse of this thought is what we usually hear.  i like it; “move the ceiling” might just be a nice little call to action for teachers this year, particularly as these next few weeks will be filled with in-services and setting goals for the school year.
