When was the last time you were satisfyingly exhausted, professionally? If the answer is too often, congrats as my guess is the work you do must be great if you are able to get that feeling frequently. If the answer is never, perhaps you need to reflect on your practice. Simple exhaustion isn’t enough, you need some sense of accomplishment to go with it or you may as well be running on a treadmill.

But I think going 110% 6-7 days per week leads to burn-out. It’s like running 2 miles past the finish line in a marathon. It’s “past exhaustion”, whatever that is. Can you tell I’m tired?

I agree, but doesn’t this go back to the idea of satisfaction or fulfillment? At that pace for so long, the sucks the joy out of it, right?

Well, I think the only part that sucks the joy out of the work is the bureaucracy. The part where we are with the kids should give us a power boost…exhausting yet rewarding. Can’t we get rid of the other life/energy-sucking part??????!!!!!
